To protest against the overuse of standardized testing in public schools, Juanita Doyon from the Parent Empowerment Netword in Spanaway, WA designed the "Test or Teach" button. Over the past 8 years, the organization has made more than 80,000 buttons to promote awareness of the issue. The buttons have been used in many states and also in Canada and Mexico.
