September 2013 Hot Button Winner

Congrats to our
September 2013 Hot Button of the Month Winner!

September's Hot Button of the Month Contest Winner is... Nancy Riordan from Honor Flight Central Florida in Winter Springs, FL. Honor Flight Central Florida presents a personalized "Our Hero" button to each World War II veteran chosen to be honored with a trip to Washington DC for a chance to "view and reflect at their memorials."

"We transport 150 Veterans each program year at no cost to them," Nancy said. "We ask each Vet who will fly on an Honor Flight to give us a picture taken when they served (1941-1945) and format them into a 3 1/2" button that the Vet wears the day of his/her Honor Flight."

Nancy notes that "We have used Badge-A-Minit to make over 150 buttons so far, each one different, as one part of our service to recognize the members of our greatest generation as the heroes they are to us. The submitted button was made for WWII Army Air Corp Vet Charles White, and the picture was taken in the plane he flew as a combat pilot of a P51 Mustang."

"The Vets who fly with us don't know the reason we have asked for a picture of them when they served, and giving them the buttons with their service pictures comes as a very nice surprise," Nancy said. "Without exception, our Senior Veterans (average age 89) love the buttons that we create for them, and many ask for duplicates. They become a treasured memento of their Honor Flight experience and preserves a special moment in time."

As the Hot Button of the Month winner, Nancy received a $100 Badge-A-Minit gift certificate.
