James A. Dello Russo designed this button to commemorate Italian Heritage Month, celebrated every October. The button lists many famous Italians and Italian-Americans who made outstanding contributions to the United States and the world, and to dispel the misconception that the only accomplishments of Italians and Italian-Americans were in the criminal world - a myth spread by movies and cable TV programs. "Many people found the buttons very educational. One teacher asked for enough buttons for her students, so she could teach a lesson on Italian-Americans for Italian-American Month," said James.
