February’s Hot Button of the Month Contest Winner is…Maria Shireen Thomas from IDSIGN in Centreville, VA.. Maria is with RECREATIONS-Recycling for Art, a group that believes everyone can help make "our RECREATIONS the best RECREATION ever" by joining forces and creative minds. "RECREATIONS is a project very dear to my heart," said Maria. "I started a page to my Facebook account and the end of September and we are now over 100 members strong and growing!" Maria also hosted workshops with teenager to help them think creatively. Participants received personalized buttons with the special logo. She is planning additional RECREATIONS workshops with older adults for this summer.

As the Hot Button of the Month winner, Maria received a $100 Badge-A-Minit gift certificate.

February 2011 Hot Buttons Congratulations to our February 2011 Hot Button Winners! After this extremely long, snowy winter, we were happy to see some signs of Spring in the entries. This month’s Hot Button winners promoted everything from Valentine’s Day to special events to special causes, and made it difficult to choose winners. Where Spring Happens First This button made us feel like Spring had finally Sprung, even though we were looking out our windows at mountains of snow and ice! Jennifer Coble of Southern Shows Inc, in North Carolina included these "Where Spring Happens First" buttons in a media kit to promote the Southern Spring Home & Garden Show. "The buttons were an added benefit to the media who were able to wear them around the show while working. They were a hit with the staff and public," said Jennifer.

Gather Round Carol Padden of Florham Park, NJ, made this button to help promote Elliott Yamin, third place finisher on American Idol Season 5, as he releases his third album called "Gather Round." "I have been making 'Elliott Buttons' for the last five years, and have given them out to promote him and his beautiful voice," said Carol. "They are a great fan favorite and show our support for Elliott."

Thunder Mountain Valentine Vandella Anderson of Thunder Mountain Moose Lodge in Tucson, AZ, designed the Thunder Mountain Valentine button for the Lodge's annual Valentine Sweetheart Dinner Dance. "This year, along with giving all the ladies flowers at the event, they also received a button," Vandella said. "The button will be something they have forever to remember the dinner dance."

Unfortunate Kara McEuen Powell, a graphic design instruction at Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth, TX, submitted this button design, which was done by one of her students. "I had my students design buttons to see for a Valentines fundraiser and we picked the top ones. This one was a top seller," said Kara.
